Amigurumi Crocheted Bear
Learn all about Amigurumi as you crochet an adorable Bear Doll that is perfect for snuggling and makes a great gift for little ones and the young-at-heart! You’ll learn how to make a magic ring (an Amigurumi essential technique), keep track of your rounds with ease, embroider details, sew the parts together and tips and tricks that are great for making any Amigurumi project. This class is perfect for advanced-beginners and seasoned crocheters alike. This class is two sessions and there will be homework between class sessions.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be comfortable with chaining and single crochet. Experience with increasing and decreasing is helpful, but not required.

-Approximately 200 yards of yarn in one OR two colors - Store sample shown in Ella Rae Denim DK using colors Light Wash and Natural (TIP: Two balls of yarn in different colors that are 200 yards will make two bears in opposite colors). A DK or worsted weight yarn is recommended for this project.
-Crochet Hook, size D / 3.25 mm - Adjust hook size if needed
-Tapestry Needle
-Row Counter is highly recommended

*Please note: We recommend a DK weight yarn for this project paired with a D / 3.25mm hook. Depending on your individual tension, you may need to adjust your hook size. If you choose a lighter or heavier weight yarn, you will also need to adjust your hook size. There will be homework between class sessions.
HOMEWORK (for the first class):
Have all your materials in advance of the class AND: Choose your yarn and make a swatch with with your selected hook prior to the first class. The swatch should not have holes or large gaps that would allow for stuffing to poke through the doll when stuffed. If you have a fabric that is too loose, try a smaller hook until you have a fabric that is suitable. If your fabric is so tight you cannot work into the stitches, you should try going up a hook size.
SWATCH HOMEWORK:
-Chain 16.
-Row 1: sc.
-Rows 2 - 15: repeat Row 1.
-Once complete, carefully observe if your fabric is firm enough to not allow stuffing to poke through. If it’s too loose, try again with a smaller hook.
