Fixing Your Mistakes 101



Have you ever dropped a stitch, split a stitch, or knit when you should have purled, or lost your place when knitting and felt like giving up on the whole project? If so, or even if you want to learn how to better read your knitting and fix common mistakes yourself without having to wait for Tuesday WIP Night, this class is for you.  You'll learn to fix dropped and split stitches, know when to tink and when to frog, how to use a lifeline, and several other tips and tricks to boost your knitting confidence.

HomeworkUSING a Size 8 needle and A LIGHT COLORED, TIGHTLY SPUN, WORSTED WEIGHT YARN (not too fuzzy!), cast on 20 sts and knit 6 rows in garter stitch (knit every row) and then knit in stockinette stitch (Row 1: knit, Row 2: purl) for 4 inches, ending with a knit row, and leave it on the needle, do not bind off, and bring the yarn attached to the needle with you. 

Materials Needed (bring or buy at the shop):
  • A smaller gauge needle than the one used to knit the swatch
  • Tapestry needle
  • 2 yards of sport or dk weight yarn in a darker color
  • Unlocking (safety-pin type) stitch markers
